Objectives of Ghana Biomed

  • To help link global technological advances to the opportunities and expertise in Ghana
  • To bring together representatives of health care delivery funding initiatives and the Ghanaian biomedical science community
  • To foster collaborations among Ghanaian biomedical Scientists both home and abroad for national benefit
  • To serve as a forum for spawning ideas for postgraduate research projects and to make Ghanaian foreign biomedical scientists accessible to postgraduate students to create supervisorial and mentoring relationships
  • To serve as a forum for identifying and discussing the national priorities in order to maximize the benefits of the worldwide biomedical revolution within the Ghanaian context
  • To bring together representatives of the global Drug R&D community and local researchers with first-line access to relevant unexplored pharmacognostic data

Problems to be addressed

  • The limited presence of current developments in contemporary Ghanaian biomedical research discourse
  • The untapped local Ghanaian natural drug knowledge repository
  • The untapped Diasporan-Ghanaian biomedical resource

Specific Goals for Ghana Biomed 2010

  • To bring Ghanaian biomedical scientists, both home and abroad, together to know themselves, present ongoing research, share experiences and create relationships
  • To identify potential synergies and areas of collaboration between participants
  • To provide a forum for discussion of current advances in knowledge in the bio-medical sciences and identify areas of national benefit
